The Critical Point

Photographs poised at the threshold between order and chaos.

Borrowing its title from physics, The Critical Point explores the threshold at which order begins to dissolve into disorder. In physical systems, critical states are where complex and unexpected behaviours can emerge, from living systems to the activity of the brain.

This project looks for an equivalent tension in photography: images that feel structured without becoming predictable, and chaotic without losing coherence. I am interested in why this unstable balance holds our attention — why a photograph poised between order and chaos can produce such strong visual pleasure.

Rather than trying to resolve that tension, the work stays inside it, searching for the moment when complexity becomes legible and uncertainty becomes form.
