One Day in Barcelona — 6 Hours

A full-day version with more time to photograph, review images and work in depth on observation, composition and your personal approach.

What you will work on

Make decisions before pressing the shutter.

01

Observation and timing

Read a scene, anticipate movement and recognise when separate elements are beginning to form a photograph.

02

Composition and light

Work deliberately with layering, visual hierarchy, colour, shadow and the distance between you and the scene.

03

Editing and direction

Identify your strongest photographs, understand recurring habits and leave with concrete priorities for your next work.

The work behind the workshop

The same questions I explore in my own street photography.

The workshop grows from an active photographic practice: looking for structure inside everyday disorder and learning to recognise the brief moment when light, gesture and human behaviour come together.

Your instructor

Learn with Nikolas Deco, a street photographer based in Barcelona.

I photograph everyday life through colour, light, gesture and the unstable relationship between order and chaos. My teaching is direct and image-led: we spend less time discussing abstract rules and more time understanding what is happening in front of your camera.

I also run The Critical Point, a YouTube channel about street photography, visual thinking and the process behind stronger images.

How the day works

A Barcelona photo walk shaped around you.

We meet in central Barcelona and begin with a short conversation about your experience, the photographs you admire and what currently feels difficult in your work.

We then photograph together in real street situations. I adapt the route and exercises to the light, weather, your pace and the areas where you want to improve. Feedback happens while we work, so you can apply it immediately.

The 3-hour workshop is focused and practical. The 6-hour workshop gives us time to explore more than one area, pause for a deeper image review and work further on editing, sequencing and visual language.

You do not need a particular camera or a professional level. Bring the camera you normally use and, if possible, a small selection of photographs you would like to discuss.

Private workshops are available year-round in English and Spanish, subject to availability.

The price includes the guided photo walk, personalised exercises and feedback, and a review of your photographs. Travel to Barcelona, meals and equipment are not included.
